MacDonald Reaches Mohawk Milestone
In the footsteps of brother Mark MacDonald and only four other drivers in the history of Woodbine Mohawk Park, James MacDonald hit a seasonal milestone on Thursday night (Dec. 29).
MacDonald scored two victories on the 10-race card, first in the third race with P L Ooooooooooyah and then in the penultimate race with Littlebearcat.
That second win gave MacDonald 400 victories on the season at Woodbine Mohawk Park, a feat only achieved by five drivers including Mark MacDonald, who won 404 races at the track in a single season in 2006. Chris Christoforou won 407 in 2000, Doug Brown broke the threshold twice with 412 wins in 1994 and 416 wins in 1995 and Randy Waples holds the single-season victory record with 430 wins in 2001.
With 400 wins on the season, James MacDonald leads the driver colony at Woodbine Mohawk Park with just two cards remaining in 2022. He has over 100 wins on Doug McNair, who sits second on the leaderboard. MacDonald is poised to repeat as the meet's leading driver after taking the title in 2021 in progress to an O'Brien Award for Driver of the Year.
