Divine Art Extends Streak To Thirteen
O’Brien Award finalist Divine Art left the nation riding a 12-race winning streak while racing under the care of trainer/driver Nathan Sobey, and on Monday she tacked on another win in her debut for new connections at Cal Expo.
Divine Art, who was recently acquired by owner/trainer/driver Gerald Longo of Riverside, Cali., cruised to her latest victory in a $4,500 conditioned event for distaffers.
Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the three-year-old daughter of Outrageous Art-Keystone Divine parked past the quarter in :28 before brushing to the top and setting the remainder of the fractions. She sailed through middle splits of :56.3 and 1:26.2 before storming home in :28.3 to win by 4-3/4 lengths over Salary in 1:55. Uniquerock took home the show dough in the eight-horse affair.
After a three-for-six rookie campaign Divine Art has answered with a 14-1-1 record from 17 trips to the track in what has been a brilliant sophomore campaign. She’s banked well over $300,000 to date, with the majority of that bankroll coming under the tutelage of trainer Sobey for previous owners Robert Jones, Diane Bertrand and John Hind.
Divine Art is a 2022 O'Brien Award finalist along with Ontario standout Silver Label.
