Lane Of Stone Rock Solid In Dayton Open
Lane Of Stone stayed steady as a rock on Thursday (Dec. 15) to take the $25,300 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
Lane Of Stone didn’t let the major jump up in class intimidate him. Despite spending two weeks competing below the Open level, 2-1 Lane Of Stone rocketed out of the gate. Driven by Jeremy Smith, the six-year-old horse was determined to control the field. Reluctant to give up the lead, Lane Of Stone posted fractions in :27.1, :57 and 1:25.1. Rock solid through the final turn, Lane Of Stone secured his first Open victory at Dayton Raceway in 1:54.4. Kings County (Brett Miller) finished second with Magic Night (Trevor Smith) completing the trifecta.
The victory marked the sixth of the season for the son of Wishing Stone. With $662,292 in lifetime earnings, the horse has hit the board an amazing 54 of 78 career starts. Mark Winters conditions Lane Of Stone for owner Harry Horowitz.
Live racing will resume Friday (Dec. 16) at Dayton Raceway with first post at 4 p.m.
