Shes All Woman Strikes Again In Dover DSBF Prelim
Shes All Woman stamped herself as the likely leading lady in next week's $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders' Fund final for three-year-old trotting fillies by way of a career-best 1:57.4 win in the lone $20,000 second-round preliminary event, held Monday at Bally's Dover.
The Anders Bluestone-Wark Woman filly floated forward from post seven and was rated by driver Victor Kirby to gradually gain on the outside of rivals before clearing early leader Just Pump It (driven by Art Stafford Jr.) with one lap remaining. Once in control, Shes All Woman reached the halfway point in a sensible :58 before steadily distancing herself from the field past three-quarters in 1:27.3. With Just Pump It tiring in her wake, Shes All Woman edged clear of eventual runner-up Miss Timber Wolf (Kim Vincent) by 4-1/4 lengths. Just Pump It faded to third.
John Wagner trains 13-time winner Shes All Woman, who paid $3.40 to win and has earned $244,780 for owner-breeder Pamela Wagner.
All eight fillies that participated in both preliminary events are eligible for the $100,000 series final, scheduled for next Monday (Dec. 12). They are: Shes All Woman, Miss Timber Wolf, Just Pump It, Antares Star, Franky Doyle, Giant Arbitration, Our Last Penny and Lady Bluestone.
Three-year-old trotting colts and geldings will contest the second preliminary round of their DSBF series Tuesday (Dec. 6), with both divisions slated for the beginning of a 14-race card at Bally's
