Cuatro De Julio Retired To Stud

Cuatro De Julio winning at The Meadowlands

Cuatro De Julio 2,1:51.3; 3,1:51 ($879,061), a trotting male known for his blazing speed on the racetrack throughout his career, has been retired to stud duty.

He will stand at Abby Stables in Ohio for a fee of $5,000, with his bookings handled by France Trotting USA.

Cuatro De Julio was bred by the famed French horseman Jean Pierre Dubois under the banner of his Dream With Me Stable. Cuatro De Julio — which means fourth of July in French — is by Trixton and out of Clarabelle, a daughter of two-time Prix d’Amerique champion Ready Cash, who is now a leading sire in France.

Cuatro De Julio became known for his speed as a youngster and was developed by Marie Ortolan Bar. The colt won five races at the Red Mile as a two-year-old, including a division of the International Stallion Stakes, when he trotted to his freshman speed record of 1:51.3. As a three-year-old, Cuatro De Julio returned to Lexington and lowered his lifetime record to 1:51. At the Meadowlands, he won an elimination for the Breeders Crown and finished second in an elimination for the Hambletonian.

By standing at stud in Ohio, Cuatro De Julio’s offspring will be eligible to the rich Ohio racing program, with Sires Stakes and state-restricted race purses totalling $18.6 million in 2022.
