Puddy Triples At Rideau
Trainer Victor Puddy nabbed three victories on the Thursday night (Nov. 24) card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, including a win in the $10,500 Preferred Handicap Trot with Crossfit.
Driver Jimmy Gagnon floated Crossfit into third while Duke Lavictoire darted to the lead before a :28.1 first quarter. Crossfit stayed put at the pylons through a :57.2 half before Gagnon launched him into action and sprung to a narrow lead passing three-quarters in 1:26.2. Crossfit cleared Duke Lavictoire off the final turn and then withstood a late charge from Black Tie Bash to win by a half length in 1:56.1. Holdin Aces rallied from the back for third and Raising Rusty took fourth.
A six-year-old gelding by Donato Hanover, Crossfit won his 23rd race from 126 starts and has now earned $283,197. He competes for owners Gordon McDonald and Christopher Boland and paid $10.10 to win.
Puddy’s first win came earlier on the card when Bankroll (1:56 winning mile, $2.40 to win) finished ahead of stablemate Levis Day in a $5,000 conditioned pace. Better Catch Girl (1:55.2, $7.40) completed the hat trick for Puddy in the race following the feature on the card.
