Sgt Papa Daddy Powers In Vernon Feature
Sgt Papa Daddy scored in the $8,700 featured pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday night (Nov. 12).
Sgt Papa Daddy ($4.80) shot off the gate and went to the front and led to the quarter in :27. He used a :29.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.1. Northern Rein made a first-over move going around the final turn. Sgt Papa Daddy was first to three-quarters in 1:24.4.
As they made the turn for home, Sgt Papa Daddy and Northern Rein continued to battle. Sgt Papa Daddy dug in and found something extra to win in 1:52.3. Northern Rein had to settle for second. Major Leaguer finished third.
Sgt Papa Daddy is an eight-year-old gelding by Rockin Image. He is owned by driver John MacDonald and trained by Kimberly Hines. It was his sixth win of the season. He now has 42 victories.
John MacDonald combined with Hines as part of her training hat trick to get wins with Zappa ($4.60 to win) and Night Explorer ($16). He got his other win with Love Yourself ($5.70). Brandon Parker drove three winners on the card. He got his wins with Mr French ($11), The Blazing Truth ($49), and Le Millenaire ($6.40).
