Top Class Mares Reunite Thursday At Red Shores

Harness Racing at Charlottetown Driving Park

Tobins Brownie will seek another dominating performance against the best mares in Eastern Canada on Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The city track has a solid eight-dash presentation planned for mid-week with all the action getting underway at 6:30 p.m.

The $3,200 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace lines up in race five with Tobins Brownie leaving from post two after front-ending her way to victory at this level last week. David Dowling trains and drives the four-year-old daughter of Stonebridge Terror for owners Brittany Watts, Sandra Weeks and Errol Burgoyne, all of Springvale, P.E.I.

Standardbred Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series winner Acefortyfourdome was not part of the final equation in that Tobins Brownie victory but has been sharp so far in 2022 with eight wins of her own. Jason Hughes drives his trainee from post four in the class.

Ladylike (to be driven by Corey MacPherson) has rail control while sitting on a second and two wins in her last three starts for trainer Colin Johnson. Perennial top mare Dreamfair Zenfire has the outside post seven for trainer/driver Marc Campbell with nine wins in the campaign for the daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip.

Also in the field are The Lady Sheriff (Ken Murphy), Better Be In love (Dale Spence) and Ubettimagoodone (Gilles Barrieau).

The "Post Time Picks" side with Acefortyfourdome to get it all: “Acefortyfour Dome had an outside post to deal with last week and ended up on the fringes. We’re wagering Hughes will be gunning early from here and hit the wire first when it’s all said and done.”

Ageless wonder Freddie headlines the top trot of the night in race four for a $2,800 pot. Campbell trains and drives the 10-year-old son of Majestic Son for owners Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. His main rivals are slated as Jessiejesorjessica (Dowling) and Mile Hill Willie (Barrieau).
