Rockemsockem Scott Wins Inverness Season Finale
Rockemsockem Scott closed out the 2022 harness racing season at Inverness Raceway, winning the featured finale on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 30).
Sunday's six-race card concluded with the $2,450 Winners Over Pace, which was named the Dorene Fraser-McArthur Memorial Pace, for the top local pacers.
Sent off as the 3-4 favourite from the inside post, Rockemsockem Scott led all the way through fractions of :28.4, :58.1 and 1:27.4 en route to the 1:57.1 victory for driver and owner Gerard Kennedy. Thunder Alley (Travis MacLean) advanced first-up after the first lap but could not catch the popular leader, who drew off in the stretch by 3-3/4 lengths. Thunder Alley held on for second while Dam Lucky (Ambrose Gillis) charged wide off the final turn to show.
Trained by Donald Kennedy, Rockemsockem Scott knocked out his competition for the sixth time this season from 19 starts. The five-year-old son of Rockin Amadeus-Remis Rocket now has 16 career wins and just shy for $40,000 in earnings.
Rockemsockem Scott paid $3.50 to win.
The 2022 Inverness driving title was won by Redmond Doucet, who was away driving in Truro Raceway's stakes action on Sunday. Doucet dominated the season with 34 victories -- 15 more than runner-up Douglas MacQuarrie. Rodney Gillis finished third with 16 wins.
Zachary Mullins took the training title with his stable winning 13 races this season. Walter Walker was second with 10 victories while Donald Kennedy, Charles Fraser, Rick Beaumont and Mary MacQuarrie tied for third with seven wins each.
