Life Is Better Pockets Leamington Feature Win
Driver Scott Wray worked out a perfect pocket trip with Life Is Better to prevail in the $5,500 Preferred 4 Handicap Pace featured at Leamington Raceway on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 23).
After following Number One Hit (Don Rankin Jr.) through fractions of :28.2, :58.4 and 1:29.1, Wray urged Life Is Better by down the stretch to win in 1:58.2 by 1-1/4 lengths. Mister Rebbily A (Ryan Desroche) closed off the winner's cover to grab the runner-up honours, edging out Number One Hit and the pylon-skimming Maddys Credit (Natasha Day) as they crossed the wire together.
Life Is Better push his season's win total into the double digits, scoring for the 10th time in 24 starts this year. Kenneth Mathieson trains and co-owns the homebred six-year-old son of Betterthancheddar with Henry Banakiewicz of Jerseyville, Ont.
A four-time winner of Leamington's top class this meet, Life Is Better paid $4.30 as the 6-5 favourite.
Leamington Raceway will wrap up its 2022 meet next Sunday, Oct. 30 with post time set for 1 p.m.
