Bob Bowness Passes
Longtime harness racing industry participant and former Standardbred Canada director Robert Charles "Bob" Bowness passed away peacefully after a brief stay at the Prince County Hospital in Summerside, PEI on October 21, 2022 in his 74th year.
Born on June 20, 1948, son of the late Walter Bowness of Kensington. Beloved husband of Rosalie (Bentley) and loving father of six children, Wade (Debbie) Roy, Corinne (Dan) Rowswell, Todd (Paula) Bowness, Tara Webster, Mary (Kevin) Hunter and Rob (Jennifer) Bowness.
One of his most cherished roles was being a grandfather, often found providing words of wisdom and guidance and talking about common interests including sports (mainly hockey!), horses, politics, history, current events and family. Pops was a loyal and proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren: Jessica, Jackie and Caleb (Roy), Zachary, Malachi and Tobiah (Rowswell), Adam and Olivia (Bowness), Bailey and Clark (Webster), Kale and Cameron (Hunter) and Jordyn, Samuel and Skye Bowness.
Brother- in- law of Robert and Alan (Gabriele) Bentley. Pre-deceased by his father Walter, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law George and Edna Bentley, Brother-in-law Gary Bentley and Sister-in-law Sandra Bentley.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington for visitation on Monday (Oct. 24) from 2-5 p.m. Funeral Tuesday in the Kensington United Church at 11 a.m. The service will be available to view online on the funeral home’s website after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment in People’s Cemetery Kensington.
