Joxter Triumphs In Open Trot At Vernon
Joxter ($3.60) and driver Dan Daley won the $10,000 Open 1 & 2 Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Oct. 21).
Tokyo Seelster went straight to the front and led to the first quarter in :28 and half in :58. Joxter made his move down the backstretch going first-over from fifth whileTokyo Seelster continued to lead to three-quarters in 1:26.2. As they made the turn for home, Joxter started to bear down on Tokyo Seelster and he took over in deep stretch then held off the late charge of Franks Watching (Ray Fisher Jr.). Joxter circled the mile in 1:55. Tokyo Seelster finished third.
Joxter is a four-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. He is owned by Ann-Mari Daley and trained by Dan Daley. The win was his eighth this season and his 18th career victory.
Daley had a training-driving double. He got his other win with Cocomadaboutyou ($14). Steeven Genois and Leon Bailey each had driving doubles.
Live racing continues at Vernon Downs on Saturday, with a 10-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
