Star Razor Scores; Davis Awarded Driver's Title
Star Razor won the $20,000 Open Trot feature Wednesday (Oct. 19) in 1:55.2 and Allan Davis was presented with the driving title on closing night of the 76th season of live racing at Harrington Raceway.
Star Razor, a four-year-old Dejarmbro gelding, held off a late charge by Secret Jet for his 11th win of the year. Hatikvah finished third. Owned by Nick Callahan, Yorwollohan Racing Team and Greg Godbout, Star Razor padded his seasonal bankroll to $115,695. Corey Callahan piloted the $4 winner.
Meanwhile, Davis and Montrell Teague were in a close race for the meet's leading driver with Davis prevailing by one win after Teague won three on the closing night card. Davis is the son of local driving legend Eddie Davis, who won more than 8,000 races in his career and still drives on occasion at the age of 78. Allan Davis’s son Tyler is also one of the leading trainers on the circuit.
Art Stafford Jr. finished third in the driver standings.
Live racing on the Delaware circuit will now shift to Bally's Dover, formerly known as Dover Downs, with opening day on Oct. 31. Post time is 4:30 p.m. (EDT).
