Rotten Ronnie Beats His Record At Inverness
After beating the track record in June, Rotten Ronnie put in another powerful performance at Inverness Raceway to lower the mark in winning the $2,450 Winners-Over Pace on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 16).
Driver Redmond Doucet darted the four-year-old stallion by Malicious for the lead but didn't clear until after a :56.2 half when he finally overpowered pacesetter Euchred for the top. From there, Rotten Ronnie scooted away to lead by six to three-quarters in 1:25.4 and pulled farther clear to the finish to win by 13-1/2 lengths in 1:54.4. Eastcoast Invader finished second and Thunder Alley took third.
The winning time bests the previous track record for aged pacing geldings Rotten Ronnie set earlier this year of 1:55.2.
Doucet co-owns Rotten Ronnie with Andy Stewart. Lennan MacIsaac trains the 14-time winner and earner of $79,794. He paid $2.40 to win.
