Black Tie Bash Back In Rideau Winner's Circle
Isabelle Darveau trainee Black Tie Bash made a return to the Rideau Carleton Raceway winner's circle in the grounds' top trot, the $10,500 Preferred Handicap, on Thursday (Oct. 6).
Driven by owner Robert Shepherd, Black Tie Bash abided by his usual off-the-speed tactics. Sitting fifth while Duke Lavictoire cleared into a :27.3 first quarter and carved a :56.3 half, Shepherd got underway with the four-year-old Chapter Seven gelding and ranged uncovered up the rim to press the leader to three-quarters in 1:25. Black Tie Bash disposed of his rival with ease off the turn and scooted to a 3-3/4-length victory over Raising Rusty, who tracked the winner's move to take second. Duke Lavictoire settled for third and Comeonover Hanover sat a pocket trip to take fourth.
Black Tie Bash won his 14th race from 57 starts, pushing his career bankroll to $132,258. He paid $3.80 to win.
