Jet Rock Rips Home In Rideau Preferred
The six-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven gelding Jet Rock fired from last to first to take a scant-nose victory in the $10,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday night (Sept. 25).
The Light Speed slid to the top while enduring first-over pressure from St Lads Cash to a :26.1 first quarter which perpetuated through a :54.3 half. St Lads Cash folded from the early battle while driver Robert Shepherd revved Jet Rock from the back and swung him wide to three-quarters in 1:23.1 to take aim at the leg-weary leader coming for the straightaway. The Light Speed fought gamely to the finish, but Jet Rock overpowered the pacesetter to score at the finish of a 1:52.1 mile with Hes Got A Vendetta third and Flash Cube fourth.
Isabelle Darveau trains Jet Rock for owners Ecurie CSL and Les Ecuries Dorleans Inc. He won his 25th race from 105 starts and has now earned $270,070. He paid $4.40 to win.
