Freshmen Sparkle In Tioga Stakes
Tioga Downs played host to several W.N. Reynolds Memorial stakes races on Friday (Sept. 23), and the rookies really put on a terrific show.
Light And Tight (Tyler Buter) went gate-to-wire to win the $37,900 first division for two-year-old pacing fillies in a lifetime best of 1:53. Turn On The Charm (Wally Hennessey) finished second. Doing Marvelous (Mark MacDonald) took home third money. Light And Tight (American Ideal-Dont Point At) is trained by Nifty Norman for owners Pinske Stables and David Hoese. It was his second win in just four lifetime starts.
Rock My Socks (Mike Merton) notched her first career win in the $37,900 second division for two-year-old pacing fillies in 1:53.2. At The Hop (Jeff Gregory) drew second money. American Wisdom (Marcus Miller) finished third. Rock My Socks (Boston Red Rocks-Kattimon) is owned by Rick Berks and trained by Jake Leamon. She paid $4.60 for the victory.
New York Sire Stakes star The Gruffalo (Jack Gregory) delivered in the $31,650 first division for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings in 1:57. Met Your Request (Marcus Miller) finished second. Bumpy Jack (Aaron Byron) was third. The Gruffalo (Chapter Seven-Clementine Dream) paid $3.60 for the win. He is owned by Racing Team Of America, Deena Frost, Emma Petterson, and trainer Mark Harder. It was his fifth win of the season.
You Got It (Tyler Buter) posted the upset in the $31,650 second division for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings in a lifetime best of 1:57.3. Unique Style (Mark MacDonald) was second best. Night Star (Marcus Miller) finished third. You Got it (Chapter Seven-Tweet Me) is owned by Allstar Stables LLC and trained by Noel Daley. The colt won for the fourth time this season and paid $21.00 for the win.
With her fifth win in six starts, Instagram Model (Jeff Gregory) cruised to easy victory in the $36,000 first division for two-year-old trotting fillies in 1:56. Saint Trixie (Wally Hennessey) was second with Pride N Joy (Tyler Buter) finishing third. Instagram Model (Chapter Seven-Check Out Trixie) is owned by Lynn Curry and trained by Annie Stoebe. The filly paid $3.60 to win.
Sparkling Tile S (Ake Svanstedt) charged late to capture the $36,000 second division for two-year-old trotting fillies in 1:58.1. Heaven Hanover (Wally Hennessey) finished second. Read The Book (Mark MacDonald) was third best. Sparkling Tile S (Face Time Bourbon-Riveting Rosie) is owned by Jordan Sparredal and trained by Svanstedt. The first-time winner paid a whopping $31.80 for the victory.
