Beach Moment In Time At Grand River
Driver Travis Henry persisted through a first-over grind at landed in time to take the $11,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap Pace at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday night (Sept. 21).
Saulsbrook Jessie cleared the lead to a :27.4 first quarter and led uncontested to a :57.2 half. Beach Moment sat third and pulled first over into the backside and blitzed Saulsbrook Jessie to three-quarters in 1:26.2. The pair continued to battle through the final turn with Saulsbrook Jessie regaining a length lead spinning for home, but upon straightening Beach Moment gathered momentum and slid by to a head victory at the finish of a 1:55.2 mile. Casimir Swamp Girl rode the pocket for third and Exotic Dragon closed for fourth.
A four-year-old mare by Control The Moment, Beach Moment competes for owner Hutt Racing Stable and trainer Blake MacIntosh. She won her 12th race from 59 starts, has now earned $137,210 and paid $13.10 to win.
Mycrownmykingdom ($4.00) etched his name into the Grand River record books in the evening's opener with an open-length 1:55.2 romp for driver Samuel Fillion, trainer Luc Blais and owner Determination.
The win was the fourth on the season for the regally-bred four-year-old son of Muscle Hill - Beehive and fifth lifetime. Mycrownmykingdom matched the mark of Sicario set in 2021 and 10-year-old older male trotting track standard of Partyatyourplace.
