The third $15,000 Nauset Light preview race for two-year-old pacers was held at Plainridge Park on Monday afternoon and the Massachusetts-bred Seafood Beauty was a runaway winner as she prepares for the upcoming $2.5 million Massachusetts Sire Stakes. 

Jay Randall left with Seafood Beauty (American Ideal-Seafood Annie) and wrangled the lead away from fellow Mass-bred Wicked Scorchah (Jim Hardy) before the :28.1 half. Once on the point, Seafood Beauty got to the half in :57.4 with Hey Junior (Ron Cushing) on the outside, who continued to push the pace to 1:25.4 at three-quarters. Around the far turn, Seafood Beauty began to pull away from the pack and cruised home to victory by 5-1/4 lengths in a new lifetime mark of 1:55.2.

After returning from a midsummer respite following success in the New York Sire Stakes program, Seafood Beauty ($3.20) has now won two consecutive races for owner Seafood Delight Stable and trainer Nick Vamvilis. 

Seafood Beauty will be competing in the two-year-old pacing filly division of the Massachusetts Sire Stakes which begin at Plainridge Park on Sunday (Sept. 24).

Randall finished the day with two wins on the card along with Mike Stevenson. 

There was also a $15,000 condition race for fillies and mares on Monday that saw Skylar Hanover won her sixth race of the year. 

Quarrel (Pat Curtain) grabbed the early lead but Skylar Hanover (Drew Monti) wanted the front and got it by the quarter in :27.1. However that lead was short lived as Roaring Kitty (Jim Hardy) brushed to the top as the race passed the stands, and then crossed over before the :56 half. Positions remained unchanged until they spun out of the last turn where Skylar Hanover moved to the two-path and matched strides with Roaring Kitty all the way down the stretch. Skylar Hanover was able to gain a one-half length advantage at the wire and won in 1:52.2.

Skylar Hanover ($7.40) is owned by Eric Walstrom and David De Martino and is trained by Jimmy Nickerson.
