Pathtodover A Round Tripper

An aggressive approach from an excellent post position on Wednesday resulted in back-to-back wins for Pathtodover, who doubled up in The Raceway at the Western Fair District’s $12,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred for pacers

.

Trainer/driver Doug Bowins hustled Pathtodover right to the engine, and after slicing out splits of :28.2, :59 and 1:28.1 over a track rated “good” with a one-second allowance she used a :29.4 closing quarter to seal the deal by a neck over the pocket-sitting Misty Moonstone in 1:58. Call Me Yours, who was last for most of the mile, came on strong to finish third in the eight-mare affair.

Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, the seven-year-old daughter of Straight Path-Armbro Kerchief improved her 2012 record to 3-0-1 in five tries for owner/breeder Mario Marcogliese of Dundas, ON. The 20-time winner has stashed away over $20,000 already this season, and more than $127,000 in her career.
