St Lads Cash Rings Up Rideau Win
The six-year-old Sunfire Blue Chip gelding St Lads Cash rocketed from the pocket to claim the $10,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday night (Sept. 11).
Driver Steeven Genois protected position from the pylon post with St Lads Cash while Royal Renegade rolled from post 6 to the lead before a :26.4 first quarter. Royal Renegade continued uncontested into a :56.2 half but faced stiff pressure as the tempo quickened up the backside from first-over Flash Cube. Flash Cube crept closer to Royal Renegade through three-quarters in 1:24.2 and matched strides with the pacesetter rounding the bottom corner. The pair straightened for the finish one paced while St Lads Cash was loaded with vigor and dashed by the dueling leader to secure a 1-1/4-length win in 1:53.3. Hes Got A Vendetta rallied to finish second in a dead heat with Thrilling Times, who closed from second over.
St Lads Cash competes for owner-trainer Michelle LeBlanc. The gelding won his 16th race from 128 starts and has now earned $148,448. He paid $11.10 to win.
