MacIntosh Trainees Sweep Final Prospect Leg
Trainer Blake MacIntosh swept the fifth and final leg of the Prospect Series for three-year-old trotting colts as Stonebridge Zeus and Ima Standup Guy delivered as the favourites in their respective $7,000 divisions on Friday (Sept. 9) at Grand River Raceway.
Travis Henry drove both series winners, starting with Stonebridge Zeus ($2.90), who cleared to command in the first turn and rebuffed a challenge from Jacked (Brett MacDonald) to score by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:58.2, with Arch Adam (Tyler Borth) finishing third in the short field.
MacIntosh co-owns the Resolve rookie, who also won a Prospect division on Aug. 28 at Georgian Downs in a career-best 1:56.4. Van Camp Trotting Corp. and Mortgage Boys Stable share ownership.
Stonebridge Zeus's barn buddy Ima Standup Guy ($3.30) later wore down a stubborn My Holy Moley (Borth) to win the second division by half a length in 1:58.4 while Wania (J Harris) completed the top three order of finish.
A gelded son of Archangel, Ima Standup Guy picked up his first Prospect victory for MacIntosh and co-owner Hutt Racing Stable.
MacIntosh ended the nine-race card with a training triple, also picking up a victory courtesy of Kim and Dan Sergeant's homebred sophomore pacer Fine Cheeserecipe ($3.10). Henry drove the 1:54.3 winner.
