Fine By Me Fastest In Hanover Prospect Prelim
Bob McIntosh pupil Fine By Me took the front early and left her competition in her dust to post an open-length win in the second of two $7,000 Prospect Series divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 3) at Hanover Raceway.
Off the even-money favourite, driver Tyler Borth cleared command with Fine By Me before a :28.4 first quarter and kept the pace honest. She posted middle splits of :59 and 1:28.4 and extended the field in her sprint for home to draw clear by 5-1/4 lengths to the finish of a 1:58.1 mile. Pocket-sitter Mending Fences gave chase in second with Control Alt Delete taking third.
Fine By Me races for owners Robert McIntosh Stables Inc. and Mardon Stables. The Sunshine Beach filly won her third race from seven starts and has now earned $13,908. She paid $4 to win.
Shes Truckin Now stormed off cover to upset as the longest shot on the board in the other Prospect Series division. The daughter of All Bets Off raced fourth as Shine Brighter led to a :30 first quarter and endured first-over pressure from Paddy Melt through a 1:01.3 half and to three-quarters in 1:30.2. As the speed folded, driver Travis Henry vaulted the Teesha Symes pupil around tiring horses and rushed for home to best a late-closing Red Sky Tonight by a head in 2:00.4. You Were Sayin finished third.
Owned by Shirley Symes, Shes Truckin Now won her second race from six starts and has now earned $10,357. She paid $17.60 to win.
