American Risk Returns To Truro Winner's Circle
After touring the Maritime circuit this summer, American Risk found himself back in a familiar spot on Friday evening (Sept. 2).
Returning to his home track where he reeled off four straight wins to start his 2022 campaign in the spring, six-year-old gelding American Risk was back in the Truro Raceway winner's circle after defeating the top local pacers tonight.
Driven by Todd Trites in the featured $2,500 Winners Over Pace, American Risk, the 2-5 favourite from the inside post, led the field of six in post position order under a beautiful sunset through fractions of :28, :57.2 and 1:26 en route to the victory. He won by 1-1/4 lengths in a season's best clocking of 1:55 flat. Always B Sweet (Ernest Laffin), the 7-2 second choice, tipped out uncovered from third heading towards the final turn and edged out pocket-pursuer Good Friday Three (Dale Spence) in the race for place.
American Risk (pictured above winning his season's debut on May 6) picked up his fifth win this year to go along with six other top three finishes from 14 starts for trainer George Rennison ad Risky Bizz Group of Truro, N.S. He paid $2.80 to win.
It was back-to-back wins on the card for the Rennison stable as Dont Ask Logan romped to a 10-1/2-length victory in 1:55.2 one race prior.
