Jack-of-all trades Maritime horseman Jeff Lilley has done a lot of different things in the Standardbred industry, and he added to that list a little over five years ago when he “hustled up a glove and a rod” and inseminated his mare, Bettim Laura, with the semen of Malicious. In 2022, the resulting foal, the now four-year-old Bettim Again, trained and still partly-owned by his breeder, was the only Maritime-bred in the hands of the starter when the field for the Gold Cup & Saucer was called to the gate.
