Gabbys C Note Shines In OHSS
Gabbys C Note established her dominance in the $75,000 Ohio Sires Stakes (OHSS) leg for three-year-old trotting fillies on Friday (Aug. 26) at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Leaving from post 4, 3-5 favourite Gabbys C Note had her eyes on the prize from the start. Driven by Aaron Merriman, the daughter of Triumphant Caviar refused to be put into a pocket by 9-5 second choice Criquette Hall. Gabbys C Note gained control of the field around the first turn and never looked back, posting fractions in :27.1, :57.1 and 1:26.3 before cruising across the finish in 1:55.1. Criquette Hall was second with Kirsi Dream in third.
With $153,750 in the bank, Gabbys C Note has tallied seven victories in nine seasonal starts. The Chris Beaver-trained sophomore has won two of three Ohio Sires Stakes legs this year. She was scratched sick from the second leg in June.
Gabbys C Note’s dominance is not unique to 2022. Just last year, she was named Ohio’s Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year. Her freshman victories included the Ohio State Fair as well as the $300,000 Ohio Sires Stake Championship. The filly is now only $3,100 shy of surpassing $400,000 in lifetime earnings. Gabbys C Note is owned in partnership by Chris Beaver alongside Johanna Beaver and Steven Zeehandler.
Live racing action returns on Saturday (Aug. 27) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. First post is 3:15 p.m. (EDT).
