Tioga Hosts NYSS Sophomores Sunday

Tioga Downs played host to three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for three-year-old pacing colts & geldings on Sunday (Aug. 21). 

Pleaseletmeknow (Matt Kakaley) cruised to an easy win in the $39,233 first division. 

Twin B Deluxe (Jason Bartlett) led to the first quarter in :27.1. Pleaseletmeknow ($4.20) took over with a circuit to go. All About The Hunt (Jordan Stratton) came first-up to challenge as Pleaseletmeknow led to the half in :55.2. The two pacers continued to battle all the way down the back stretch. Pleaseletmeknow led to three-quarters in 1:22.2. 

As they made the turn for home, All About The Hunt went on a break and Pleaseletmeknow just jogged home in a lifetime best of 1:50.3. JD (Mark MacDonald) was second best. Huntanover (Tyler Buter) finished third.   

Pleaseletmeknow is a gelding by American Ideal. He is owned by Fiddler’s Creek Stables and trained by Travis Alexander. It was his seventh win this season. He now has 10 career victories. 

Seven Hundred (Jordan Stratton) won the $38,533 second division. 

Kingsville (Jason Bartlett) darted out to the front and led to the quarter in :27.2. He slowed things down using a :29.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :57. Syracuse Express (Mike Merton) was first to challenge as they headed for the final turn. Kingsville led to three-quarters in 1:24.1. 

As they made the turn for home, Seven Hundred ($8.20) came all out after Kingsville and wore him down in deep stretch to get the win in a lifetime best of 1:51.4. Kingsville had to settle for second. Top Genius (Marcus Miller) finished third. 

Seven Hundred is a colt by Huntsville. He is owned by Rick Berks and trained by Jake Leamon. It was his fourth win of 2022. He now has six career victories. 

River Ness (Jordan Stratton) was a gate-to-wire winner in the $39,233 third division. 

River Ness ($3.20) was first to the quarter in :27.3. He used a :29 second quarter and led to the half in :56.3. He cruised to three-quarters in 1:24.4. 

As they reached the stretch, second place finisher The Claw (Aaron Byron) made a late bid but could only watch as River Ness won in 1:53.1. Roll With The Flow (Jim Taggart Jr) was third. 

River Ness is a gelding by Huntsville. Ron Burke trains for owners Burke Racing Stable & Weaver Bruscemi, J&T Silva-Purnell&Libby, and Frank Baldachino. It was his third win this season and his fourth career victory. 

Live harness racing resumes at Tioga Downs on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 6:15 p.m.
