Remember Titans Keeps Rolling At Plainridge
Despite spending some of his time at Saratoga, Remember Titans has been almost unbeatable at Plainridge Park and on Thursday (Aug. 18) captured his sixth win of the year over the oval in the $20,000 Open Trot, making him the winningest trotter of the meet.
Leaving from post 5, Remember Titans became the fractional ruler and posted splits of :27.4, :56.4 and 1:25.1 with Nows The Moment watching from second and Trix And Stones in the breeze chasing during that third panel. After rounding the last bend, Nows The Moment pulled for the stretch drive and had 1-1/2 lengths to make up. Remember Titans had him in his sights and would not let him get by and won by a quarter length in 1:53.4, just a fifth off his lifetime mark.
It was the 11th win of the year for Remember Titans and it boosted his yearly income to $124,269 for his owners Kellogg Racing Stables and Jackie Greene Stables. Jackie Greene trains the $4.80 winner while Jay Randall sat in the sulky.
Randall ended the day with two driving wins.
Also on the card were a pair of $15,000 conditioned trots that saw each winner score a gate-to-wire victory with both timed in an identical 1:55.2.
First, Golden Kronos was a decisive 2-1/2-length winner for owners Michael Pozefsky and Willaim Pozefsky. Trained by Stanley Zombick, Golden Kronos returned $5 with Kevin Switzer Jr. in the bike.. Then later, Heartofgold Devie trotted an even mile before pulling away to an easy 3-1/4-length win for owner Mona Dodd. The second winning Charlene Cushing trainee of the day returned $4.80 in rein to Nick Graffam.
