NYSS Comes To Tioga On Saturday
Tioga Downs welcomes two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for freshmen trotting colts & geldings on Saturday (Aug. 13).
Crown (Brian Sears) looks like the one to beat as the 2-1 morning-line favourite in the $53,500 first division. The colt by Chapter Seven-Amour Heiress is trained by Marcus Melander. He is two for two this year, picking up NYSS wins at Vernon Downs and Saratoga.
His toughest rival looks to be the Mark Harder trained The Gruffalo (Tyler Buter). The colt by Chapter Seven-Clementine Dream is two for three in his young career. He notched NYSS wins at Vernon Downs and Saratoga.
Wild Bill Kelso (Wally Hennessey) is the 2-1 morning-line favourite in the $53,350 second division. Jim Campbell trains the gelding by Crazy Wow-Broadway Jo Ell. He has picked up NYSS wins at Monticello and Buffalo.
First time starter Tillios Action (Mike Merton) is the 3-1 morning-line second favourite. The colt by E L Titan-Nothing But Nice is trained by John Grasso. He won his qualifier at the Meadowlands in 1:57.4.
