Clever Character Cruises At Grand River
The five-year-old Tellitlikeitis gelding Clever Character protected position from the pylons and never looked back to take the $11,000 Preferred Pace at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday night (Aug. 10).
Driver Travis Cullen sent the Jodie Cullen pupil to the point heading to a :27.1 first quarter and faced minimal challenge. Through a :57 half and three-quarters in 1:25.2, Clever Character coasted for home and extended to a 2-3/4-length win in 1:53.4. Lyons Johnnyjnr rode the pocket to finish second and Saulsbrook Jessie gave chase in behind for third.
Clever Character competes for owners A1stable, Ronald Cullen and Paul Sanders. He won his fifth race from 30 starts this season and his 19th from 87 overall and has now earned $483,417. He paid $4 to win.
