Bulldog Hanover Holds Steady At No. 1 In Poll
Idle Bulldog Hanover remained No. 1 in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll released Tuesday (Aug. 9), which saw Bella Bellini and Alrajah One IT move up while Fashion Schooner, Cool Papa Bell and Bythemissal moved in.
Bella Bellini, who won the Dr. John R. Steele Memorial in a stakes record 1:49.4, rose from fifth to second in the rankings and was followed by John Cashman Memorial winner Alrajah One IT, who vaulted from eighth to third.
Test Of Faith, who finished second in the Lady Liberty, and Joviality S, who was second in the Hambletonian, completed the top five.
Cane Pace champion Beach Glass held steady at No. 6 and was followed by Hambletonian Oaks winner Fashion Schooner, Kentucky Championship Series leg winner Pebble Beach, Hambletonian winner Cool Papa Bell and Ohio State Fair winner Bythemissal.
Fashion Schooner, Cool Papa Bell and Bythemissal were newcomers to the Top 10. Rebuff, Jimmy Freight and Venerable dropped out.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine U.S. Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
