Miller Takes GLADA Trot

Northfield Park racing action

Eddie Miller took no prisoners and went down the road from the pole position with Cowboy Country to win the $8,000 GLADA Trot in 1:57.3 on Sunday night (Aug. 7) at Northfield Park.

When the starter turned the field loose, Miller hustled the Break The Bank K gelding to the lead and they had command before the quarter mile timer flashed :28.2. Once on top, Cowboy Country cruised by the halfway point in :59.3 with Fultons Fury snuggled in second. Up the backside, the order remained the same as Lauren Harmon moved Emerald Chip off the pylons and out to challenge. But that challenge was short-lived as Cowboy Country was still strong when he trotted by the three-quarters in 1:29.1. From there, the race was for second money as Cowboy Country kicked in a :28.2 final stanza and was all alone at the wire in the 1:57.3 mile. Fultons Fury finished second 2-1/2 lengths behind the winner. Justice Reigns finished third for Melvin Miller.

Cowboy Country is owned by Rebecca Sugg and Steven Maas and trained by Eddie Miller. Sent the odds-on favourite in the seven-horse field, Cowboy Country paid $2.80 for the win.
