Moase Triples In CDP Season Finale

Horseman Neal Moase closed out the winter meet at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park with a training triple on Saturday at the half-mile oval

Moase earned his first win on the 15-race program in the third race with the popular front-stepping Woodmere Real Drop ($3.50), driven by Katie Miller. The six-year-old Drop Off mare won by three and a quarter lengths in 2:04.3 over the 'good' track. Post 9 starter F F Stena ($8.70) later rallied home for a quarter length score in 2:04.1 in the ninth race for Moase. Mark Bradley was in the bike for the six-year-old Electric Stena mare's win. Moase's Camluck mare P L Betterway ($20.40) then wired the field in the 13th race to record a 2:01.1 triumph. Miller drove the seven-year-old mare to her second straight win.

Moase has sent out 114 winners lifetime while banking nearly $125,000 in purses.

The final trotting feature of the season went to Dunmore Alpha ($2.80) and driver Mark Cullen in a blanket finish. Edward Smallwood's nine-year-old Black River gelding rallied three-wide from the back of the pack to prevail by half a length in 2:06. The top five finishers were separated by just one length. Warrawee Jade and Napanee Seelster finished second and third.

Casual Motion ($10.80) turned back a challenge from Huronexpress en route to a 1:59 front end score in the final pacing feature for trainer, driver and owner Joey Pineau. The eight-year-old Camotion gelding won for the second consecutive time by one and a quarter lengths over Blue Star Outlaw and Oakrock Almighty.

Live racing will resume at Red Shores in April.
