Favourites Dominate In Grassroots Splits

A set of OSS Grassroots divisions went postward during Monday’s 11-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and there was no shortage of speed from the three-year-old pacing fillies.

Quebecoise kicked off the provincial proceedings with a 1:51.2 performance in her $21,800 division.

Scott Young got away second with the Shawn Steacy student while Addictivebehaviour rocketed to the top from Post 7 and had the field chasing her past the quarter pole in :26.4.  Quebecoise came around that one in the backstretch, however, and proceeded to sliced out middle splits of :55 and 1:23.1.  She then used a :28.1 closing quarter to win by three lengths over Raptors Won.  J One Twenty was a well-beaten third.

Sent off as the 2-5 choice, the daughter of Sunshine Beach-Hazes Zure Bet improved her 2022 record to 2-1-3 from 12 starts with the victory.  The six-time winner has now banked in excess of $76,000 for the partnership of Katherine Steacy, Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc and Estate of Conrad Leber.

Momentarily marched to the top in her $22,200 division and never looked back en route to posting a blowout victory.

Louis-Philippe Roy gunned his charge to the lead from Post 6 and together they sped the field through fractions of :27, :55.1 and 1:22.4 before using a :29.3 closing panel to win by 6-1/4 lengths over Dewitt For Josie in 1:52.2.  Im On The Edge rounded out the top three finishers.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, the daughter of Control The Moment-Sun N Moon won for the third time this season from eight attempts for trainer Dan Lagace who shares ownership on the six-time winner with Ben Mudry, Edwin Buhler and Robert Van Ostrand.  Her earnings soared to $70,706 with the tally.
