His Boy Elroy Takes On Wide Open Feature
There was no stopping His Boy Elroy his last start and driver David Dowling will look to find some of his own magic in the afternoon feature on Sunday (July 24) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway. The track will also play host to a special Harness The Hope fundraiser.
The Prince County half-miler will host 11 dashes on Sunday kicking off at 1 p.m.
Fresh off an open-length score in 1:54.2 on Governor’s Plate night, His Boy Elroy is slated to be the top dog in the $3,000 featured pace in Race 10. David Dowling gets the catch-driving call for trainer Phil Sizer and owners Doug Polley and Gordon McComb of Nova Scotia. The veteran son of Jeremes Jet has been a three-time winner in 2022 from seven starts in the Sizer stable.
Governor’s Plate finalist Bugsy Maguire draws away from the Invitational ranks for this start, leaving from post six for trainer Wade Sorrie and driver Damian MacLellan while Woodmere Ideal Art has the outside post seven after winning his last two starts for the tandem of driver Jason Hughes and trainer Sifroi Melanson.
The Backstretch Beat likes His Boy Elroy on top of the triactor.
“His Boy Elroy jumped up with a huge trip on Governor’s Plate night but don’t forget he has over $326,000 made lifetime and a mark of 1:50.4. Looks like the old boy is back, so we’ll call for his 30th career win in here.”
Also in the featured field are Flowersonthebeach (Dale Spence), Dylan Sam (Ken Murphy), Heart And Soul (Adam Merner) and Father Of the Year (Mike Downey).
Hunger Pangs is top choice in the third race with Dowling in the seat for trainer Blaine McKenna and owner Susanne MacKeigan of Nova Scotia. Magical Cowgirl (Hughes) has the rail as she takes on the boys while Coasttocoastshark (Murphy) has post three.
