Zeron Undergoes Hip Replacement
Trot Insider has learned that horseman Rick Zeron will be out of action for an extended period of time after undergoing hip replacement surgery earlier this week.
"I had hip replacement on my right side [on Thursday]," said Zeron. "The surgery was a success, I'm feeling great, no pain down the leg and it's a life-changing experience."
Zeron didn't have an estimate on his return date for jogging and training, noting that he's "day-to-day" and will follow the advice of his doctors. He offered special thanks to Dr. Mark Ginty and the team at Oakville Hospital for their professionalism with the process.
The 65-year-old Oakville resident has concentrated more on training than driving in recent years, with just a pair of wins in 38 starts this year to lift his lifetime total to 8,169. On the training side, his barn is batting 0.260 with a 15-13-13 summary from 102 starts with $208,512 earned. Lifetime, Zeron sports 2,395 training victories.
