BJ Lorado Prevails In Tight Tioga Finish
BJ Lorado and driver Aaron Byron prevailed in a three-across finish to take the featured $12,000 Open Trot at Tioga Downs on Monday (July 4).
BJ Lorado went straight to the front but Credit List (Wally Hennessey) wrestled the lead away during the opening quarter in :27.2.
Credit List continued to show the way to the half :56.3 and three-quarters in 1:25.1 before BJ Lorado popped the pocket as they made the turn for home.
BJ Lorado and Credit List then battled all the way down the stretch. Believer (Mike Simons) squeezed in between them in deep stretch but it was BJ Lorado squeaking out the win in a seasonal best 1:54.3. Believer was second-best as Credit List had to settle for third.
BJ Lorado is an eight-year-old gelding by Bo W. He is trained by Marc Major for owners Michael and Diane Norcross. The win was his fourth of the season from 18 starts and his 37th victory lifetime.
Wally Hennessey drove four winners on the fourth. He was first with Tech Titan ($2.90), Rebellious ($3.40), Golden Kronos ($2.80) and Chief Beach ($4.10). Corey Braden had a driving double getting wins with Go With The Flow ($2.20) and Jammin Jack ($10.20).
