Mohawk Saturday Baby Races Complete

Qualifying action at Woodbine Mohawk Park

A total of 14 baby races were carded on Saturday (July 2) at Woodbine Mohawk Park with performers of both gaits and genders in action.

Midnight Nation showed the most speed by virtue of a 1:55.3 performance in his Canadian debut. Rolly Mallar had sent out the Ontario-sired son of Betterthancheddar - Late Flyin N out for two lessons at Harrah's Philadelphia, and then sent the rookie pacer to the care of Chantal Mitchell to prepare for the Ontario Sires Stakes season. The colt willingly hauled Louis-Philippe Roy around the Campbellville oval on Saturday morning, pacing home in :28.4 to comfortably win by more than three lengths for owners Shaun Vallee and D P V Racing Stable of New Jersey.

Performers from the Shaun Steacy stable came to Mohawk looking ready to rumble in advance of stakes season, with Steacy trainees finishing the day with seven top-two placings. There were four winners from the Steacy barn, including pacing colt Better B Bold (Betterthancheddar - B So Lucky; 1:57), filly Front Page Story (Captaintreacherous - Wenditions; 1:57.1), Ace Of Aces (Bettors Delight - Artisticlyinclined; 1:56.1) and Dance With Tabby (Bettors Delight - Dancingatnight; 1:59.3).
