Yarock Upsets In NAADA Trot
Dave Yarock and Mr Ridgetaker made every pole a winning one en route to a 2:01.1 victory in the $7,500 North American Amateur Driving Association (NAADA) trotting series on Wednesday afternoon (June 29) at Monticello Raceway.
Dismissed at odds of 7-1 despite starting from the pole position, the veteran gelding returned a healthy $17.80 win mutuel.
When the starter said "go," Mr Ridgetaker zipped to a two-length lead in a relatively soft :30.1 first quarter over betting favourite Makin Trouble K (Tony Ciuffetelli). They then raced one-two by the half in 1:01.2 before being joined by Karets (Chris Petrelli). But Mr Ridgetaker was in solid control and got first call as he zipped by the three-quarters in 1:30.4 nearly three in front. But in the lane, Paul Minore had Racintowardadream in high gear and he ranged alongside the leader, but couldn't get by as they raced heads apart to the wire with Mr Ridgetaker winning in 2:01.1 by three-quarters of a length. Minore's trotter was second best and Karets garnered the show dough
Yarock owns the 13-year-old winner who's trained by Dawn Devaux.
