‘Bulldog’ Bounds To Millionaire’s Row
Ontario darling Bulldog Hanover swept to the lead past the half and blazed to the finish of the $65,000 Free For All Pace on Saturday (June 11) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, stopping the clock in 1:48.2 and becoming harness racing’s newest millionaire.
Driver Jody Jamieson settled the four-year-old Shadow Play stallion in fifth while 6-5 favourite Allywag Hanover hustled from post nine to the lead into a :26.3 first quarter. Jacks Legend N soon took over the lead before Allywag Hanover circled back to the point with Bulldog Hanover also rushing for the front into a :55.2 half.
Bulldog Hanover took over the lead into the final turn and opened his advantage on Allywag Hanover to cruise by three-quarters three lengths better while clicking that station in 1:21.4. The Jack Darling trainee maintained his speed through the stretch while widening his lead to complete his :53 back half and finish five lengths in front of Allywag Hanover. Little Rocket Man rallied for third and Warrawee Vital closed for fourth.
Co-owned by Jack Darling through his Jack Darling Stables Ltd. with Brad Grant, Bulldog Hanover won his third race from four starts this season and his 17th from 25 overall. His earnings now stand at $1,027,441 and he paid $9 to win.
