Lockbox Wins Meadows Open Trot

Lockbox winning at The Meadows

Lockbox found the key to victory in the Lightning Lane, pouring through to capture Friday’s $16,000 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Lockbox grabbed the early lead but yielded to the pocket when Perlucky challenged. When Robbie Wrenn Jr. guided him inside in the lane, the four-year-old Wishing Stone-Springaround gelding had all the trot and scored in 1:54. Barn Hall came off the cones to secure second, three-quarters of a length back, while Perlucky saved show.

Ron Burke trains Lockbox, who increased his career bankroll to $311,337, for Burke Racing Stable, Purnel & Libby LLC, J&T Silva Stables LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Dave Palone collected four wins and Mike Wilder three on the 11-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Saturday when the program features a pair of stakes for three-year-old filly pacers: a $133,830 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes and a $60,000 PA Stallion Series event.

On the wagering front, the 13-race program offers a pair of carryovers: $15,341.67 in the Jackpot Pick 5 (Race 4), $4,847.26 in the final-race Super Hi-5. Special post time for the Belmont Day card is 11:30 a.m.
