Saulsbrook Olympia Bounces Back In Pop Up Series

Saulsbrook Olympia was a beaten favourite when she finished third in last week’s opening leg of the Pop Up Series for distaffers at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but she rebounded in a big way and went home a winner in Thursday’s second leg at the Campbellville oval.

With Austin Sorrie taking over the lines, Saulsbrook Olympia got away third while Escape The House shot to the lead and supplied the field with an opening quarter clocked in :27.4.  Sorrie teed off in the second quarter with Saulsbrook Olympia and the mare whizzed through middle panels of :57.3 and 1:25.3 before using a :29.1 final frame to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Takeyourbreathaway in 1:54.4.  Kickin Cowgirl was third.

Brian Lee trains the four-year-old daughter of Big Jim-Racino Star for Saulsbrook Stables Inc and Ed Gorc.  The victory was her third of the season and the 12th of her career.  The $7,500 payday lifted her lifetime earnings over $110,000 while her seasonal bankroll surpassed $25,000.
