Hanover's Season Opener Set For Saturday
This Saturday, June 4, Hanover Raceway will kick off its 2022 harness racing season that includes the debut of several new events, as well as familiar favourites. With restrictions lifted, the raceway is thrilled to welcome everyone back with no registration, no COVID-19 protocols and back to 100 per cent fan capacity.
Hanover Raceway will host 15 race dates this summer, including eight Ontario Sires Stakes (Grassroots and Prospect Series) events, from June 4 to September 17.
Opening day marks the debut of a Hanover Raceway beer, in partnership with Hanover based Maclean’s Ales, called Stretch Drive, which has a custom designed can that race fans will appreciate.
“We are excited to see the return of racing at Hanover Raceway on Saturday,” said Steve Fitzsimmons, General Manager at Hanover Raceway. “We are thrilled to debut our custom beer Stretch Drive this Saturday and we are happy to have Maclean’s Ales on site for taste testing and sales of the beer.”
The race card will also include the Brian Dunbar Memorial Race, honouring a longtime Ontario Standardbred racing participant of more than 45 years.
