Dontcallmefrancis Repeats In Northville Open
Driver Art McIlmurray and Dontcallmefrancis teamed up for a decisive wire-to-wire victory in 1:54.2 on Saturday at Northville Downs, repeating in the Michigan track's Open 1 Pace.
Dontcallmefrancis set sail off of the car to an opening quarter-mile in 27 seconds flat in the $11,800 feature, fended off challenges from Music Is Art (Marc St. Louis Jr.) and Lying In Cash (Jason Merriman) from the half-mile pole to the final turn and held sway only to draw off by 1-3/4 lengths at the finish.
Dontcallmefrancis is trained by Jason Seymour and owned by Rocky Wingfield. The win was his fifth of the season from 17 starts and marked the nine-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding's 51st career victory.
McIlmurray led all drivers with three wins on the card.
Live harness racing continues at Northville Downs on Friday, June 3, with a first race post time of 7:30 p.m.
