Ripped And Ready Romps In Rideau Preferred

After a narrow defeat in last week’s quest for a third straight score in the Preferred ranks at Rideau Carleton Raceway, Ripped And Ready returned to the oval and posted a sharp triumph in Thursday’s $10,500 feature.

Ripped And Ready was assigned Post 6 in the handicapped event, but it was anything but a stumbling block for the Thierry Vandenplas pupil. Pascal Berube charged off the gate with the five-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Cumin First and after parking past the quarter in :27.2 he worked his way to the top and then never looked back. He sailed through middle splits of :57.2 and 1:25.3 before using a :29.1 final frame to win by three lengths over Gloire Dream in 1:54.4. Taking home the show dough in the six-horse affair was Seeyou Men.

Dr. Ruth Irving of Russell, ON owns the 15-time winner who now boasts a 3-1-0 record from four trips to the track this season. He’s banked more than $18,000 this season and over $174,000 to date.
