Flamboro Feature To Martha Maxine
A trip to Canada’s fastest half-mile oval proved to be a profitable one for the connections of Martha Maxine on Thursday, as the veteran front-stepped to a 1:55.1 win in a $12,000 conditioned pace
.
The WEG regular, who was sent off as the 2-5 favourite, took a break from the racing wars at Woodbine for Team Davis – trainer Bill Davis and driver Billy Davis, Jr. – and made the most of the opportunity. Martha Maxine sped through fractions of :27.1, :57.1 and 1:25.1 before scooting home in a :30-second clip to seal the deal. Ocala survived a first-over journey to finish 1-1/4 lengths behind the winner, with Winter Blues grabbing the show dough.
Jeff and Debbie Elchuk of Surrey, BC own the 37-time winner, who broke into the win column for the first time in three starts this season. The lion’s share of the purse lifted the eight-year-old son of Park Place-Another Agenda’s career earnings to $670,960.
