Hennessey With Hot Hands At Tioga
Wally Hennessey drove four winners on Friday’s eight-race card at Tioga Downs on Friday, but bettors that believed in him didn’t get much bang for their buck.
Much to the delight of the favourite players, Hennessey reached the winner’s circle with Gimme Some Luvin ($4.30), Crystal Sparkles N ($2.40), Anchors Away ($2.30) and Elegant Noelle ($4.20)
Mike Merton drove three winners on the card. His wins came with Cheers For Chips ($2.80), Show Me The Magic ($9.30) and I Am Winning ($5.90). Kevin Reynolds, Jr. and Patti Harmon each had training doubles.
Better Call Saul (Lee Morris) got the first call in the $6,500 STHHA Amateur Club race, but DWs Revenge ($3.60) went on by and led to the first quarter in :27.3 for driver Leon Cable.
He used a :28.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.2. He breezed to three-quarters in 1:26. As they made the turn for home DWs Revenge found himself in another zip code winning on cruise control in 1:56.4. Pistols Aspiration (Stacey McLenaghan) was second best. Bloodstockshall Tab (Joe Skowyra) finished third.
DWs Revenge is an eight-year-old gelding by Archangel. Trained by Cable for owner David Jarvis, it was his second win this season. He now has 31 career victories. Tioga Downs returns to Live racing on Saturday (May 21) with a 10-race card starting at 6:15 p.m.
