Oney Hall Rolls A Seven At Mohawk Park
The fastest trotting mile of the season on Canadian soil belonged to Oney Hall going into Monday’s $45,500 Free For All Trot, and another devastating performance the trotter lowered his own seasonal record.
Oney Hall powered to the lead from Post 3 for driver Trevor Henry, and together they sailed through panels of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:23.2 before kicking home in :27.4 to win by 4-1/4 lengths over Pemberton in 1:51.1. Perfetto rounded out the Trifecta ticket.
The 1:51.1 clocking goes down as a season’s best performance for the gelding, and it just missed equalling his lifetime mark by one-fifth of a second. It also missed equalling the North American season’s record for older trotting geldings by one-fifth of a second. That mark of 1:51 was established by Lovedbythemasses at the Meadowlands on April 23.
Bob McIntosh trains the six-year-old son of Deweycheatumnhowe-On With The Show for owner Alan Leavitt of Lexington, KY. It was the seventh consecutive triumph for the speedster who is a 27-time winner to date. He lifted his lifetime earnings to $461,504 with the victory.
