Ellasen Moves Late To Win Meadows Feature

Ellasen winning at The Meadows

Ellasen overtook her stablemate, Spanish Dream, in the stretch and went on to capture Wednesday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $9,500 filly & mare conditioned pace.

Spanish Dream took the lead with a quick backside burst from third, but Ellasen was looming wide. The eight-year-old daughter of Big Bad John-So Very Nice was stronger in the lane for Hunter Myers and prevailed in 1:52.4 over a “good” surface, 1-1/2 lengths better than 30-1 longshot Morning Shadow. Spanish Dream saved show.

Kris Rickert trains Ellasen, who won for the 28th time in her career and lifted her bankroll to $317,237, for Murdock Racing Stable LLC.

Jeremy Indoff and trainer Norm Parker joined Myers with two wins each on the 11-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 11-race program features an $866.46 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
