PEI Government Won't Pay For Grandstand
Prince Edward Island treasurer Wes Sheridan has said that the provincial government will not be offering funding to revamp the grandstand at Summerside Raceway.
"We will not be building grandstands at Summerside Raceway," Sheridan was quoted as saying in an article today on The Guardian.
Sheridan released the PEI provincial government's anticipated Responsible Gaming Strategy on Monday, yet there was no reference to the facility at Summerside in the document.
The city has described the condition of the grandstand as "deplorable" and an "embarrassment, according to The Guardian.
"We're going to dig in our heels here and we're going to somehow make this (get the grandstand fixed) happen,'' Summerside mayor Basil Stewart said following yesterday's announcement.
